This week in design (WK37)
@lusionltd website is nuts, @BrettFromDJ's 4 hour rebrand, @flyosity's anger management issues, @gumroad accuses @beehiiv of copying, @freepik's new logo, and a stunning Icelandic restaurant
Happy Friday!
Welcome to the 9th issue of TWID - the only design newsletter written by me.
Design Twitter is so back (aka fighting amongst themselves, and debating non consequential opinions, yay). What a week!
Thanks for being here, let’s get into the sauce 🥫
WK36
@lusionltd studio website is nuts
Earlier this week, Lusion – an English production studio, unveiled their new website and design twitter lost their collective mind. And rightfully so…
This homepage is a work of art – really stress-testing what you can do in the browser (while keeping things running smooth).
Normally, I'm not the biggest fan of websites with custom cursors where everything is animated for the sake of creating an “experience.”
Most of the time these sites end up really choppy and turn your computer into an apache helicopter.
But this site is something you have to experience for yourself to understand the hype. Well done. 👏
@brettfromdj’s 4 hour rebrand
Here we go again (again).
A new week, means a new superhuman achievement from Brett.
This time, the madlad delivered a complete rebrand in under a day. And not your regular 8-hour work day, mind you – no, that would be far too slow and a lot less impressive (duh).
Brett previously said that he only works 5 hours tops, meaning that we can safely assume that this task probably took ~4 hours to complete. Nice!
Let’s see it, so we can all learn a little something.
Text within this block will maintain its original spacing when published *crickets*
Ah, work isn’t posted… (again)
I have a lot of thoughts about this, but I don’t want to pollute ✨ young & impressionable ✨ minds – so I’ll say just one thing.
Just because something can be done fast, doesn’t mean that it should. A brand (or site, product, app, whatever) shouldn’t be treated like a drive thru Big Mac. Great things tend to take time and care.
I’m not even trying to argue for “slow design,” I’m just saying tha— wait…. what?
You know what, just never mind… let’s see how fast we can really go.
Anyone got a 30 min rebrand?

You know how landing page feedback ends up all over the place? Screenshots, Slack, emails—you name it. Superflow lets you and your team comment and collaborate directly on the website itself.
No more mess. It's like turning your actual website into a living document where feedback lives. Teams use it to optimize design, fix bugs, and tweak content way faster—like 10x faster. Want to see it in action? Check out this live demo. Use SUPER20 to get 20% off
@flyosity is angry that you know less than him
Earlier this week, Apple announced the new iPhone line up. The keynote, as always, was packed with neat animations & new design patterns.
One such animation, was in the iPhone reveal video ↓
Pretty sick, so naturally it made its way around design twitter. Lot’s of people shared it, but Mike has finally had enough when Adrian asked how it was made.
Seems a little extreme, but ok.
Pro tip – if seeing a tweet triggers a reaction like this, you should probably go outside for a bit.
Beehiiv released a teaser of their ad network update for creators, but Gumroad didn’t seem to appreciate the art direction.
Honestly, if you replaced the Beehiiv logo with Gumroad’s I wouldn’t have suspected anything.
But that’s besides the point, I find it hard to sympathize with a company that takes a 10% cut of everyone’s hard work.
Plus the interactions in the replies were pretty funny.
@freepik changed their logo
If you’re tasked with getting some publicity, just change your logo and design twitter will do the rest.
This week, Freepik updated their logo (& their shade of blue, I think..) and twitter had a lot to say.
I don’t feel strongly one way or another, but quote tweets and replies are entertaining. What do you think, old or new?
Design Dopamine 💊
I’ve come across way too much awesome design work in the last couple of days, & was struggling with making a decision for this week’s highlight. That changed this morning, though - after seeing this beauty.
Anna Jóna Branding
We might not agree on everything, but Brijan Powell absolutely killed it with this project.
I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again - I’m a complete sucker for a classy serif. I mean, just look at these 😮💨
That’s a wrap for WK37
