Flappy Bird returns
Happy Friday!
Welcome back to TWID — the only design newsletter on the internet that will have you thinking about iOS games for the first time in 10 years.
Let’s just get right into it. Here’s what happened this week in design.

Flappy Bird’s Unexpected Rebirth
10 years after it had the entire world furiously tapping our phone screens before suddenly being yanked from the app store, Flappy Bird is making a return.
Flappy Bird was truly a cultural phenomenon. It had quickly amassed over 50 million downloads and was making the creator a rumored $50,000 per DAY.
And then I guess in the name of… art(?) he suddenly yanked it from the app stores.
Well, great news. It looks like you will be (re)downloading a new app on your phone for the first time in years because a group of longtime fans have acquired the IP around the game and are bringing it back.
I can’t believe we’re getting Flappy Bird before GTA 6.
Apple’s Glowtime event went dim
More colors. More colors. And a Button.
That was the gist of Apple’s Glowtime event earlier this week, leaving many Apple fanatics a bit underwhelmed.
They did announce the iPhone 16 with a new Camera Control button that will have your aunt’s blurry cat photos… well… probably still looking blurry.
AirPods Max gets new colors and USBC. That’s it.

What else happened this week in design?
AirPods Pro have been granted FDA approval to serve as hearing aids. This > new AirPod Max colors.
Drop the Convert… just Kit. It’s Cleaner.
As part of their rebrand from ConvertKit to Kit, the team revealed their new logo.
We’re excited to share the new Kit logo!
We emphasize two things with it:
• Value exchange between creators & their audience
• Putting the creator at the center of all we doWatch the behind-the-scenes process in episode 3 of our Rebranding in Public documentary series.
